RoShamBo IPA Lives!!!!!!!

It was a lovely day for a collab, the birds were singing, the sun was shining and the brewers were almost ready to brew. We started early Tyler went to go a pick up BroadfordBrewer from the station and Steve picked up Ken from the Half Moon in Pool. We all met up at the brewery with cups and tea and coffee and started to make a plan from the beast that would become RoShamBo IPA our 6.8% collaboration effort bringing together 3 homebrewers for a common cause and that cause was to brew the most bitter bad assery IPA there is. Before the hops were choosen the malts needed a check, the 3 of them went with Maris Otter, Munich l/c and Caramalt. The mash tun had anopen mouth and started the process off so off the brewers went and scampered down the stairs into the cold room to procure the hops to try and tame the beast. We choose a delicate balance of 3 different hops and the hops they choose were: Simcoe(Ken Fisher) Columbus(David Bishop) and Amarillo(Steve Crump). Some of those hops went in at 60 minutes to flame out other went in at 30, some even went in at 15, a smidge went in at 2 and a few of them hung around during flame out.So then we transferred and the fermentation started (I wont bore you with this process.) So a week went by and the yeast did its thing and we got the pleasure of transferring the beer to CT3, tis a favourite of mine a lot of great beers have seen this CT. So we dry hopped it with Chinnok, Ahtanum and Amarillo! The Red Willow Tap House is so far the only place you can get this beer as they have been the only one to buy it for the crawl. So there you have it, a great collaboration and thus far a damn fine beer. We will also be tapping the last nine at The Rook and Gaskill in York at the end of September so keep your peepers peeled for the tweets!

Collaboration, GBBF and other great fun!

Welcome to the first posting of what we have going on in the next few months. As the heading of the post states we will be heading down to GBBF this week on Tuesday the 12th(this just so happens to be MD Martin Kellaway's birthday Happy Birthday Bossman) and with that comes the great responsibility of seeking out the best of the UK and the very best of the USA! We are sending our Head Brewer Steve Crump and assistant brewer Tyler Kiley down to have a chinwag with the locals and rub elbows with the best in the industry to seek out new and exciting beers and what the next year will have to offer us. So stop and say Hello to either of us if you fancy a chat or a half!

The week after sees our 2nd collaboration of the year with the ever talented@BroadfordBrewer and our friend Ken from Grateful Deaf Brewery. We have collaborated with Ken on a couple of occasions but this year we throw Dave into the mix, and combine that with the talent of our very own award winning head brewer we have a fantastic hoppy IPA in the pipelines. We are planning for this beer to hit the 6.8% mark with each of our 3 heavy handed home brewers picking 3 hops for the boil and 3 different hops to dry hop the beast with, and will be launched just in time for the fanatasic event #BackInMacc, put together by local blogger Phil Hardy.

Next week also sees the return of our single hop pale ale Oberon, after last month's version's showcase of Comet won itself a nice little number of fans. Version 2 will feature Summit, this fruity bugger will come at you like a lemon and lime fired from a grapefruit bazooka. It will only be available for the last couple of weeks in August so get your local to give us a call and get this hoppy little number down your necks.

Back In MaccAnd for all those that want to get involved in our little #twissup event with @filrd and the rest of the gang please use the #BackInMacc, we will be using it during the brewday with.

Well that is all for now!

Thanks
The Wharfe Bank Team.
